Biosecurity Tasmania has more than 100 staff working alongside stakeholders and industry representatives implementing a range of actions as part of the detection and eradication program. Tasmanian primary producers are facing increasing power costs with some tariffs doubling between 2017 and 2018 contracts and others paying up to 41 cents per kwh. The lack of competition in the energy market in Tasmania is detrimental to the agri-business and agri-tourism sectors. Fruit Growers Tasmania are taking action to challenge these issues.

Women that are current and emerging leaders in the horticulture industry can now apply for a leadership development scholarship opportunity valued at up to $5,470.
Funded by the Hort Frontiers Leadership Fund (a strategic partnership initiative by Hort Innovation) and Women & Leadership Australia (WLA), the scholarship grants cover up to 60 per cent of the cost of the programs. The funding is specifically designated for women working in all horticulture sectors who are emerging leaders or have mid-level management and leadership experience.
