Future Orchards International Tour – South Africa

APAL, with the support of Hort Innovation’s Frontiers investment program, is excited to announce that the next Future Orchards® international grower tour will take place in South Africa from 8–14 June 2025.
Participants will explore key growing regions across the Western Cape during this week-long tour.
Participants will investigate:
- Diverse apple and pear planting systems, rootstock trials, and both established and emerging varieties.
- Innovations in nursery tree development, focusing on the importance of high-quality plant material.
- Large-scale ag tech applications, including variable-rate fertiliser spreading, irrigation monitoring, and orchard variability analysis.
- Sunburn and water management strategies employed across the region.
- Warm climate challenges and solutions, such as dormancy breakers and methods to ensure consistent budbreak across various varieties.
