Pest & disease management

Tasmania free from many pests and diseases which affect the production, movement and trade of fruit. Protecting and preserving this freedom is one of Fruit Growers Tasmania's major focus areas.

What we do.

Fruit Growers Tasmania undertake projects which seek to improve pest management and biosecurity preparedness within Tasmania’s fruit industry. These activities include:

  • working closely with state and national regulators to support the safe movement of fruit in and out of Tasmania.
  • increasing biosecurity awareness of priority agricultural pests and diseases across industry and the broader horticulture supply chain.
  • assisting growers to respond to potential pest outbreaks.
  • working with researchers and agronomists to improve pest management within our growing environment, and
  • assisting producers to understand and adopt new pest detection and management tools.
