Austrade pre-season cherry briefing for Taiwan
Fruit Growers Tasmania | Friday, 5 November 2021, 2.00pm
Austrade recently held a market briefing cherry exporters looking to send product to Taiwan ahead of the coming harvest season.
Participants heard from Taipei-based representatives of Austrade and Australia's Ag Counsellor, as well as receiving an update on current and expected market conditions from Taiwanese fruit importer Johnny Geeng of the Royal Island Company Ltd.
During discussions it was noted that the Taiwanese economy continues to be strong and still a good market for premium foods, although borders are expected to remain closed until after New Year. Air freight conditions are expected to continue as is, although sea freight are likely to remain difficult, especially for shipped fruit transiting via China.
