Seasonal Produce Guide 2024-25 launch with Jane Howlett

Fruit Growers Tasmania and local fruit growers celebrated the launch of the 2024/25 Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide by the Hon. Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water, at Iron Creek Bay Estate today (Monday 9 December).

The annual Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide, published by Fruit Growers Tasmania, connects consumers directly with local producers at their farm gates, retail outlets and farmers markets.

With summer here and Christmas only a few weeks away, the fresh fruit season is getting into full swing in Tasmania. It’s the perfect time to pick up this handy guide that encourages visitors and locals alike to buy local Tasmanian food and drinks at their absolute best, direct from the grower.

Nic Hansen, Fruit Growers Tasmania President said “You can’t beat premium quality, healthy Tasmanian fruit bought direct from the growers’ orchards only a few hours after it has been picked!

“I guarantee our fruit is likely to be some of the best tasting fruit you’ll experience anywhere in the world! Tasmania’s long, slow growing seasons allows our fruit to ripen naturally, with intense colour and flavour.

“Our growers are continually striving to produce the best and working hard to improve all aspects of their business and they do a great job!”

Iron Creek Bay Estate, featured in the guide, is located on the gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. The picturesque coastal estate is a patchwork of cherry, apricot and apple orchards with their own vineyard and a host of colourful farm animals.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett said “This guide is a great resource for consumers sourcing the best seasonal produce for the coming festive season.

“It encourages visitors to get out into regional communities to visit the farms and towns to enjoy the amazing produce.

“Fruit growers are integral to the agricultural industry, fostering community connections, supporting local economies and promoting healthy living through providing Tasmania with the availability of nutritious, farm fresh fruits.”

The Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide continues to feature the TASMANIAN GROWN brand, highlighting the exceptional quality produce grown by Tasmania’s horticulture sector.

Available for free across Tasmania, 12,000 copies of the Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide will be distributed to visitor information centres, Spirit of Tasmania ferries, Hobart and Launceston airports and participating businesses.

A digital copy of the Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide is also available to download from the Fruit Growers Tasmania website, providing access on the go and the ability to easily share with family and friends.
