Strong consumer support for ICA-55 mangoes

A consumer trial of mangoes brought into Tasmania through a phytosanitary irradiation protocol has met great success in Tasmania's west.
"The mangoes' quality and firmness were a hit with consumers, with many buyers returning over following days to buy more," said Ben Reilly of Steritech.
"We had at least 1400 mangoes sold in the first 2 days whilst I was there, and there were zero consumers expressing concern about the use of phytosanitary irradiation."
Retailers were also extremely happy with the fruit, building large displays to keep up with high demand from consumers.
