Successful 2022 Safety Awareness Workshops

Safe Farming Tasmania and Fruit Growers Tasmania hosted a state-wide series of information sessions to discuss safety and other workplace issues affecting fruit growers and their workers.

Sessions were sponsored by Achmea Farm Insurance and held at the following properties:

3 August – Wandin Valley Farms
4 August – R & R Smith, 54
31 August – Costa Exchange
1 September – Woodmere Cherries

Sessions focused on:

Improving work health and safety in orchards and farms, including minimum safety standards, obligations and expectations.
Workplace safety and culture, attracting and retaining workers, positively influencing workers attitudes towards safety, and reducing injuries and insurance costs.
Electrical safety - Before you Dig / TasNetworks
Mental health - Rural Alive and Well
Fire reduction and burn-offs - Red Hot Tips
Workers compensation and industrial relations information.

These sessions were well attended and feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
